Another uniquely Lone Star State experience is the Texas Sports Hall of Fame (1108 S. University Parks Dr., 254/756-1633, www.tshof.org [1], 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Sat., noon–5 p.m. Sun., $6 adults, $5 seniors, $3 students 5–21). Sports are an integral part of life in Texas, and the museum pays homage to the state’s mythical stories and most accomplished athletes, including Nolan Ryan, Troy Aikman, George Foreman, Roger Clemens, David Robinson, Earl Campbell, and Tom Landry.
The facility is divided into four separate wings—the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, the Texas Tennis Hall of Fame, the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame, and the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame. Video clips show highlights of Texas sports moments and athletes’ achievements, and visitors can view sports artifacts and an interesting display showcasing the evolution of tennis rackets.
