Although Albuquerque has a few dress-up establishments that merit a little bit of credit-card debt, the real spirit of the city’s cuisine is in its low-rent spots where dedicated owners follow their individual visions. If you’re in search of authentic New Mexican, definitely plan on lunch in one of the many neighborhood, family-run favorites—with a very few exceptions, any New Mexican joint open for dinner is just not good.
