At the time of research, there was not much to see in this riverside farm town—but do look out for the historic Los Luceros ranch. In early 2008, the state had bought this beautiful territorial-style compound and the surrounding riverfront acreage, once owned by arts patroness Mary Cabot Wheelwright, and was planning to open the place as a museum and filmmaking center. Regardless, you can enjoy a lavish afternoon tea at Ice’s Tea Room (County Rd. 1097, 505/852-2589, www.icestearoom.com [1], noon–5 p.m. Tues., Wed., and Thurs. Mar.–Oct., $23), made from all organic ingredients from the farm the place is set on; call ahead, though—it’s by reservation only.
