This is another local favorite, though not too heavily traveled, with great views of Santa Fe Baldy (elev. 12,622 feet)—while you’re busy slogging up and over several peaks yourself. The trail starts at the Winsor trailhead (no. 254) in the Santa Fe [1] ski area parking lot, but when you reach the wilderness boundary fence, the Raven’s Ridge Trail heads to the right along the outside of the fence.
The trail shows up on only one local map (Drake Mountain Maps’ Map of the Mountains of Santa Fe), but it’s easy to follow once you’re up there. When in doubt, just head uphill: You’ll bag Deception, Lake, and Tesuque peaks in a total of seven miles and a top elevation of 12,409 feet, returning to the ski area parking lot by walking down along the Tesuque chairlift. But this final stretch isn’t particularly scenic, so you may want to take in only one or two of the peaks (Lake Peak, the second you reach, is the highest), and then retrace your steps.
