From its end at La Fonda [1], the historic Old Santa Fe Trail trade route runs off to the east; just past Paseo de Peralta and the small Santa Fe River, it passes through Barrio de Analco, one of Santa Fe’s [2] oldest residential neighborhoods, established by the Tlaxcala Indians, who came from Mexico as servants of the first Spanish settlers.
The road then runs past the state capitol [3] and to a junction with Old Pecos Trail, the main route to I-25 (and historically the cattle drivers’ route to Mexico).
