Looking to see a modern cathedral, O.C. style? Visit the shiny and immense Crystal Cathedral (12141 Lewis St., Garden Grove, 714/971-4000, www.crystalcathedral.org [1]). You may already have seen it from the road or the air during your travels around the O.C. [2]! This modern-day megachurch offers free tours daily; stop by the Welcome Center for information and tour times.
On a tour or wandering by yourself, you’ll see the 2,800-seat auditorium that acts as both congregational seating and a TV studio, beautiful religious sculptures, and the magnificent glass walls of the interior.
The Crystal Cathedral hosts the taping of the Hour of Power each Sunday, and you can be a part of this national and international inspirational telecast. Or just show up on Sunday morning or evening for the regular services, which include music from the outstanding organ, the 20-piece church orchestra, and the 80-member choir.
