Mount Lassen [1] boasts precious little in the way of dining options. If you’re camping [2], shop in Redding [3] and bring in lots of food. And don’t expect to get to a restaurant during your stay unless you’re willing to drive a good long ways. But the national park does allow a couple of vendors to sell a few basic food items in the park.
In the summertime, a trailer at the parking lot for the Summit Trailhead acts as a gift shop and small snack shack. You can get a hot dog or a basic sandwich, chips, drinks, a few packaged items, and very little else. But if you’ve been hiking and exploring for half the day, a nice dog and a soda will taste fabulous. This snack bar doesn’t exactly have operating hours or a phone; it’s open when it’s open and it’s not when it’s not.
