Rather than one big gush of water through a narrow slot, Mossbrae Falls (Scarlett Way, Dunsmuir, www.waterfallswest.com [1]) flows like a wild woman’s hair—loose and all over the place. Just past the bridge and railroad tracks, these unique falls shower down into the deep blue-gray of the Sacramento River.
The constant mists nourish an unbelievable cascade of greenery, from ferns to full-sized trees.
You get to the beautiful and oddly pristine jungle by walking about 2.5 miles along the train tracks, then looking to the right just before you come to the railroad bridge.
