In addition to Boreal [1], another great beginner hill is Tahoe Donner Downhill (11603 Slalom Way, Truckee, 530/587-9444, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., adults $25–35, children $10–15). With only four lifts (two of them conveyor belts) and 120 skiable acres, Donner seems miniscule.
