You may recognize the Beringer name, since this winery sells large quantities of inexpensive wines across the country. The palatial stone estate buildings of Beringer Vineyard (2000 Main St., St. Helena, 707/967-4412, www.beringer.com [1], daily 10 a.m.–5 p.m., $10–25) belie the reasonably priced vintages you see in your local supermarket.
Inside, you’ll find an array of wines for tasting, many of which are not commonly available outside the tasting room.
Outside, you can stroll in the beautiful estate gardens, which stretch for acres along the prime land next to Highway 29. Tours take you into the winemaking facilities and show off the highlights of the vast estate.
