The Marina and Pacific Heights shelter some of the amazing amount of money that flows in the City by the Bay. The Marina is one of the San Francisco [1] neighborhoods constructed on landfill (sand dredged up from the bottom of the ocean and piled in what was once a marsh).
It was badly damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, but you won’t see any of that damage today. Instead, you’ll find a wealthy neighborhood, a couple of yacht harbors, and lots of good museums, dining, and shopping.
