Some Oaxaca shops offer selections of locally produced huaraches from around Miahuatlán in the south valley and Yalalag, north in the Sierra Juárez. Shops import most other leather goods from other Mexican centers, such as Guadalajara and León. For unique and custom-designed articles you’ll probably have to confine your shopping to the expensive tourist resort shops. For the more usual though still attractive leather items, such as purses, wallets, belts, coats, and boots, veteran shoppers go to Mercado Juárez [1] or Mercado de Artesanías in Oaxaca City [2].
