The “traditional” way to get to this area is to fly into El Porvenir [1] and transfer to the surrounding islands. Flights from Panama City [2] to El Porvenir cost US$59 each way.
Air Panama (tel. 316-9000, www.flyairpanama.com [3]) has a daily flight that leaves from Albrook around 6 A.M. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Return flights leave El Porvenir at 6:55 A.M. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Flights often stop on Cartí on the way over or back. The flight takes as little as 25 minutes or as much as an hour, depending on the number of stops.
Aeroperlas does not currently list El Porvenir flights, which suggests that the El Llano–Cartí Road is hurting business. This is the easiest and most economical part of the archipelago to get to by the land route.
