Accommodations

Most of the hotels in the Bocas del Toro [1] archipelago are in Bocas town, and most of these are built right on the water. But there are more and more options around Isla Colón [2] and on the other major islands of the archipelago. There’s quite a variety of accommodations, ranging from simple but clean hostels to modern midrange hotels to bed-and-breakfasts to rather upscale and exotic bungalows. All have hot water unless otherwise indicated.

Rates have climbed faster in Bocas than in other parts of the country. Low-season breaks and other deals are often available. Many of the hotels have websites that are accessible through www.bocas.com [3].

Note, however, that a lot of the lodgings, especially the cheaper ones, are exceedingly lame about keeping their websites up to date or alive at all, and many are bad about answering their email. A phone call is often the best way to go.
