With the exception of perhaps Violeta Chamorro and Enrique Bolaños it seems Nicaraguan politicians’ sole purpose for governing is to gerrymander the system sufficiently to ensure their indefinite power and/or enrichment. But it’s more complicated than just that: talk to any Nicaraguan and you will find Nicaraguan politics are infinitely subtle and the battlefield is constantly being redrawn.
