Hotel San Pedrano (Front St., tel. 501/226-2054, sanpedrano [at] btl [dot] net, US$35 with fan, US$45 with air-conditioning) has six rooms that make up the island’s self-proclaimed “top of the low end.” From the breezy upstairs veranda, it’s easy to eat a bite, read a book, or watch the street below. Each room has hot and cold water, private bath, ceiling fan, and optional air-conditioning.
Thomas Hotel (Front St., tel. 501/226-2061, US$33–43 plus tax) has six cheap rooms with private bath, fan, and air-conditioning, a hundred feet from the beach; this humble hotelito is 40 years old. Martha’s Hotel (Middle St., across from Elvi’s Kitchen, tel. 501/206-2053, julian [at] btl [dot] net, US$30) is two blocks from the waterfront. The nine upstairs rooms have private baths, ceiling fans, dirty walls, and cracked-linoleum floors. This is a cheap place to crash, not much else.
