The Hacienda Puerta Campeche (Calle 59 at Calle 18, tel. 981/816-7508, www.thehaciendas.com [1], US$377 s/d with a/c, US$475–658 suite) is easily the best hotel in town. Several adjoining colonial houses were gutted and transformed into an intimate 15-room hotel. The guest rooms are luxurious with the deep beds, high ceilings, large marble bathrooms, and artful decorations found at all Starwood resorts. But the swimming pool is the hotel’s most memorable feature: It weaves through several enclosed rooms of the original houses, complete with doorways and brightly painted walls. The garden-side restaurant also is one of the best in town.
