Café Chiapas (Calle 60 at Calle 49, tel. 999/928-2864, 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Mon.–Sat.) is a tiny place offering fantastic coffee drinks made from Chiapanecan beans. Order a cold cappuccino to go or enjoy a flavored coffee at one of the three tables. Ground coffee and beans are also sold in pretty boxes for US$7.75–10.25 per kilogram (2.2 pounds).
El Retorno (Calle 62 between Calles 59 and 61, tel. 999/928-5634, 6 a.m.–9 p.m. daily) is one of the city’s best bakeries with one shop half a block from the Plaza de la Independencia and several others throughout the city. Here you’ll find cookies, cakes, and breads of all tastes and shapes.
