Puerto Vallarta [1] visitors can enjoy a number of excellent private courts and courses. In Puerto Vallarta itself, golfers have their pick of the Marina course in town, the Vista Vallarta course inland from town, and the Los Flamingos course several miles north of the airport. Likewise, south of Puerto Vallarta, you can enjoy a pair of fabulously exclusive golf courses: the exotically scenic golf course in the jungle at El Tamarindo and the breezy palm-tufted course at Isla Navidad resort near Barra de Navidad.
As for tennis, many resort hotels in Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta have tennis courts. Other smaller hotels in Rincón de Guayabitos, Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Mismaloya, Careyes, Tenacatita, Los Angeles Locos, Tamarindo, Melaque, and Barra de Navidad also have courts.
No public golf or tennis courts exist in the Puerto Vallarta region, but many hotels and private clubs allow for-fee use by the general public. If you plan to play a lot of golf or tennis, you’re best to stay at one of the many hotels with access to these courts and courses.
Use of hotel tennis courts is sometimes, but not always, included in your hotel tariff. If not, fees will run upward of $5 per hour. Golf greens fees, which begin at about $75 for 18 holes, are always extra.
