Isla Islote

Only a few miles offshore, the rock-studded humpback of Isla Islote may be seen from every spot along the bay. A flotilla of wooden glass- bottomed launches plies the Guayabitos [1] shoreline, ready to whisk visitors across to the island.

For about $20 per hour, parties of up to eight can view fish through the boat bottom and see the colonies of nesting terns, frigate birds, and boobies on Islote’s guano-plastered far side. You might see dolphins playing in your boat’s wake, or perhaps a pod of whales spouting and diving nearby.
