RV folks love the north-side Sayulita Trailer Park (Dec.–May tel./fax 329/291-3126, year-round fax 55/5390-2750, www.pacificbungalow.com [1]) in a big sandy palm-shaded lot, with about 36 hookups (some for rigs up to 40 feet) and some room for tents, right on the beach. Guests enjoy just about everything—good clean showers and toilets, electricity, drinking water, a used-book shelf, concrete pads, dump station, pets okay—for about $17/day for two people, one day free per week, discounts possible for extended stays. Add about $4 per extra person. Get reservations—for winter, best six months in advance—through the owners, Thies and Cristina Rohlfs (sayupark [at] prodigy [dot] net [dot] mx).
Trying just as hard is Sayulita’s downscale campground, gated and enclosed Palmar del Camarón (tel. 329/291-3373, no reservations accepted, always room for one more) in a big palm grove on the gorgeous palm-shadowed north-side beachfront. The environmentally conscious owner, who looks exactly like Harrison Ford and is known locally as “Camarón,” offers plenty of grassy spots for tents and smaller self-contained vans needing no hookups. Tent spaces ($5 pp) are first-come, first-served, with showers, toilets, and palapas for shelter against sun and rain. Camarón also rents rustic palapa cabañas ($30 d), with mosquito nets and private toilet and shower. Other extras include a beachfront palapa restaurant and security lockers. Find it as you enter town from Highway 200, by going right at the lane that borders the baseball field. After a block and a half, turn right at the campground gate.
