On the beachfront street, you’ll find one of Playa Anclote [1]’s oldest and best seafood restaurants, El Dorado (tel. 329/291-6296 or 329/291-6297, 9:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. daily). Take a table in the airy upstairs oceanview seating area. The menu ($5–18) is based on meat, poultry, and the bounty of super-fresh snapper, scallops, oysters, and lobsters that local fisherfolk bring onto the beach.

For something a bit fancier, try Tino’s (tel. 329/291-6473, 11 a.m.–9:30 p.m. daily, $6–22), next door to El Dorado. This is the newest member of a chain of three restaurants, the original in the Puerto Vallarta [2] Pitillal district, next in Nuevo Vallarta [3], and now in Punta Mita [4]. Here it’s nearly all seafood, from marlin tacos and shrimp salad to mixed fish kebab and oysters Nuevo Vallarta.

Other good Punta Mita restaurant choices are Rocio’s on Playa Anclote and Vito’s Italian restaurant, on Calle Pez Vela, uphill in Emiliano Zapata.
