Peru’s diverse landscape includes long stretches of desert, high Andean passes, and endless tracts of swampy jungle. Not surprisingly, Peru can be a complicated country to navigate. Nearly all of Peru’s major jungle destinations require a flight unless you want to spend a few days on a cargo boat or one day, sometimes three, riding in a bumpy bus. Train service is limited, except in the Cusco [1] area, but new highways have made traveling by bus much faster and more comfortable than it was a decade ago.
