Máncora [1]’s shopping options cater to hip surfer culture: bikinis, flip flops, and flowing dresses. In the back of the restaurant Sirena (Piura 316, 4 p.m.–close Mon.–Sat.), Argentine designer Mauvi has a small clothing boutique. Her designs are original and are sold both locally and in Lima [2].

The beachfront BirdHouse (Pasaje Piura, 9 a.m.–9 p.m.), the project of a U.S. surfer turned businessman, is an upscale minimall. There, you will find casual-gourmet restaurants, Internet, clothing stores, and even a bar. But know that travelers frequently complain of slow and inattentive service.
