At 4,321 meters, La Raya is the highest pass on the route, marks the divide between the Urubamba and Lake Titicaca watersheds, and is roughly the halfway point on the Puno–Cusco journey. Snowcapped mountains stretch out over a plateau that is barren except for one colonial chapel.
