The departmental capital of Chimaltenango is a major transit point between Guatemala City/Antigua and the highlands. You may find yourself changing buses here if you’re heading up from Antigua [1] going east to Guatemala City [2] or the Western Highlands, including Chichicastenango [3], Panajachel and Lake Atitlán [4], Quetzaltenango [5], and Huehuetenango [6].
There’s little else to keep you in this busy commercial town and transportation hub.
