There are a huge range of packages offered by many of Belize’s remarkable accommodations. As more hotels jump on the 2012 bandwagon, some may have nothing to do with the Maya or their calendar, except perhaps for their name or price tag. Others have prepared incredibly creative offerings to celebrate the year.
When choosing your Maya package, be sure that at the very least, they are planning a special tour of archaeological sites. Having Maya tour guides available for your day trips would also be good.
A few properties are going over the top. The Lodge at Chaa Creek will re-create an ancient Maya village, where guests will participate by wearing Maya garb; and Black Orchid Resort , after five nights based on the river, will put guests in a rental car and send them off on their own Maya village expedition.
