Commemorating China’s revolutionary and political martyrs of the turbulent 20th century, this unusual concrete statue is the centerpiece of the small Huangpu Park and offers unimpeded views of the skyline across the river.
The monument is an abstract representation of three rifle heads arranged with their tips together, symbolizing both strength in numbers and an end to fighting. The statue was designed and erected by the Shanghai Municipal Government in the 1990s and stands 24 meters (79 ft.) tall.
Although not particularly attractive, it is a good location for photographing the surrounding buildings and nearby Garden Bridge [1].
