For arguably the most authentic Indian food in Beijing, head to Ganges in Wudaokou. Located opposite the south gate of Qinghua University, it’s a popular student haunt.
Ganges regularly wins prizes at the local magazine awards for authenticity, and its excellent kormas, rogan josh, naan breads, and tandoori meats attest to its quality. There are plenty of non-meat options on the menu too, so it’s a good choice for vegetarians.
Kingfisher beer and kulfi ice-cream desserts make a good accompaniment to your meal. The restaurant’s interior is as colorful as a Bollywood movie. Ganges has been open since 2005 and now has three other branches around town.
