DC’s largest selection of beer on tap can be found at ChurchKey, a beer bar located upstairs from sibling restaurant Birch & Barley, with 50 varieties of draft. But the selection doesn’t stop there: ChurchKey also offers 500 bottled varieties and five English-style cask ales—less carbonated and smoother than most brews.
The beer menu is organized by characteristics (“malt” and “tart”), and every beer is available in four-ounce pours, encouraging sampling. With such a selection and a small space—ChurchKey has seating for 150—the place tends to fill up within an hour or so of its 4 p.m. opening. To avoid waiting in line, head over right at 4 p.m.
