Hostal Malvinas (Gobernador Deloqui 615, tel./fax 02901/422626, hostalmalvinas [at] speedy [dot] com [dot] ar, US$48/58 s/d) provides simple but quiet and immaculate rooms with large baths and no frills—not even TV—but croissants and coffee are free all day.
In addition to moderately priced rooms, Hotel Antártida Argentina (Rivadavia 172, tel. 02901/435761, www.antartidahotel.com.ar [1], US$64 s or d) has a promising upscale restaurant. Hostería América (Gobernador Paz 1665, tel. 02901/423358, america [at] speedy [dot] com [dot] ar, US$67/93 s/d) is a decent choice in a fine location above Parque Paseo del Centenario.
Only its busy location detracts from the bright and cheerful Hotel Cap Polonio (San Martín 746, tel. 02901/422140 or 02901/422131, www.hotelcappolonio.com.ar [2], US$100 s or d). All rooms are carpeted, with cable TV; the private baths have tubs as well as showers, and there’s a good restaurant/confitería with breakfast included. There’s a 20 percent discount for stays of three days or more.
