One of Chile’s smallest ski areas, the Centro de Ski El Fraile (tel. 067/215878) is 29 kilometers south of Coyhaique [1] via the Carretera Austral and an eastbound gravel road. It has just two lifts and five runs up to two kilometers long, but the snow quality is good, with options for skiers of all abilities.
Lift passes cost around US$13 per person, per day; it’s normally open Thursday–Sunday, but daily except Monday during school holidays. Facilities include a café and rental shop. Transportation is available through Coyhaique [1]’s Camello Patagón (Moraleda 464, tel. 067/243427).
