East of Quillota and north of metropolitan Santiago [1], but politically part of Region V, the Río Aconcagua’s main attraction is the legendary ski resort of Portillo [2], near the Argentine border.
The lower part of the valley, though, is home to colonial towns with a growing wine industry and its own nascent Ruta del Vino [3].
