Several multiscreen cinemas, both in Santiago Centro and outlying comunas, show current films, often in English with Spanish subtitles. Children’s films and animated features such as Disney productions, however, usually appear in Spanish.
Santiago [1]’s traditional cinema district is downtown along Paseo Huérfanos and nearby streets, where many former large theaters have been modified into multiscreen facilities. Elsewhere in town, newer custom-built multiplexes are the rule.
Foreign films generally appear in the original language with Spanish subtitles. Most theaters offer half-price discounts Wednesdays only.
Independent films generally show at smaller venues scattered around town. Wednesday discounts are also available.
