Civilization, such as it is, appears again at Puertecitos, but don’t get too excited. This fishing village has weather-worn homes and trailers, panga fishing boats, and natural hot springs (US$5) to offer weary travelers.
The beach is small, and the only businesses are a restaurant (6 A.M.–10 P.M. daily Oct.–Apr.) and a grocery store (tienda de abarrotes).
The beach camp, Campo Puertecitos (Km. 89, Carr. San Felipe-Puertecitos, tel. 686/577-1155 or -1865) has 14 sites for primitive camping (US$20) and four barebones rooms for rent. The property has palapas for shade and grills for cooking your fresh catch.
