In luminous new quarters in the Parque Central, this is the first provincial branch of the national fine arts museum, with permanent collections of European and Argentine art complemented by rotating exhibits. Mobile walls-on-wheels separate its 2,000-square-
meter interior into manageable spaces as needed, but the shabby gravel parking lot still needs new landscaping commensurate with the building’s aspirations.
The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Mitre and Santa Cruz, tel. 0299/443-6268, www.mnbaneuquen.com.ar [1], free) is open 8 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Saturday, 6–10 p.m. Sunday and holidays.
