Café del Paseo (Pelagio Luna and 25 de Mayo, tel. 03822/42-2069) is good for breakfast, coffee, and sandwiches.
La Vieja Casona (Rivadavia 427, tel. 03822/42-5996) serves the usual parrillada but also regional specialties like locro and tangy empanadas.
Cavadini (Avenida Quiroga 1131, tel. 03822/42-2183) is Italo-Argentine.
A new gastronomic quarter is developing in the vicinity of the old railroad station at the east end of Rivadavia. One good choice is the smartly stylish Open Piazza (Avenida Gordillo and Rivadavia, tel. 03822/42-5390), serving Italo-Argentine fare.
The most ambitious menu, though, is the diverse pasta and sauces at
L’Stanzza (Dorrego 64, tel. 03822/43-0809, US$10–20), which boasts a strong provincial wine list, imaginative deserts, and attentive service.
Heladería Islas Malvinas (Buenos Aires 257) has excellent ice cream.
