For aficionados of kitchen-sink regional museums, San Rafael [1]’s can be an amusing place to wander half an hour or so through its natural history and historical collections. The former include a small but pretty good sample of minerals and a few ragged taxidermy specimens (guanacos, rheas, and viscachas).
The latter include photographs (some outstanding, others that wouldn’t find a place in most family albums), literary and cultural items including classic Argentine movie posters, and a mezzanine dedicated almost entirely to wine festival queens (with little on the local industry itself).
The Museo Integral (25 de Mayo 250, tel. 02627/42-2127, ext. 367, US$0.50) is open 7:30 a.m.–noon and 2–7 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. weekends.
