Accommodations are few for a city its size, and budget options are scarce. For summer Carnaval, the provincial tourist office keeps a list of inexpensive casas de familia, local families who rent out spare rooms.
Spacious wooded grounds, a large pool, and proximity to the Costanera are the strengths of the Peronist-vintage Gran Hotel Turismo (Entre Ríos 650, tel. 03783/429112, hotelturismo@arnet-9112, www.ghturismo.com.ar [1], US$22/2848 s/, US$55 d), which has preserved more charm than comfort. Still, it has undergone a rehab, and prices are fair enough.
Impeccably modernized Orly Hotel (San Juan 867, tel. 03783/42-7248, www.hotelorlycorrientes.com.ar [2], US$37 s, US$44 d) is probably the best value for money.
Prices have risen faster than improvements have taken place at the renamed high-rise Costanera Hotel & Resort (Plácido Martínez 1098, tel. 03783/43-6100, www.costaneraryh.com.ar [3], US$32 s, US$40 d), overlooking the Costanera.
On the north side of Plaza Cabral, the 110-room Corrientes Plaza Hotel (Junín 1549, tel./fax 03783/46-6500, www.hotel- [4] corrientes.com.ar, US$40/4742 s/, US$58 d) may not quite live up to its four-star billing, but it hss at least three-star comfort at suitable prices. There’s also a secluded pool, a gym, secure on-site parking, and a 10 percent discount for cash payments.
Business-oriented Gran Hotel Guaraní (Mendoza 970, tel. 03783/43-3800, www.hotelguarani.com [5], US$50–82 s, US$57–92 d) has both standard, superior, and VIP rooms, plus some other more expensive suites. Likewise, there’s a 10 percent discount for cash.
New in 2009,
La Rozada Suites (Plácido Martínez 1223, tel. 03783/43-3001, US$101–158 s or d) has transformed a 19th-century general store into a shiny new boutique hotel with 20 spacious rooms or suites, most of which have river-view balconies.
Also new in 2009, La Alondra (Avenida 3 de Abril 827, tel. 03783/43-0555, www.laalondra.com.ar [6], US$143–191 s or d) is an elegantly furnished boutique hotel that suffers, by comparison, from a less-than-optimal location—rather than enjoying river views, it sits on the main highway through town. The rooms are large, though, at around 50 square meters.
