Giovani (Avenida Urquiza 1045, tel. 0343/4230527) is a reliable parrilla. The Gran Hotel Paraná’s La Fourchette (Urquiza 976, tel. 0343/4223900) serves good river fish like pacú and surubí, but it is expensive by local standards, including high markups on the wine list.
At Lola Valentina (Mitre 302, tel. 0343/423-5234) the specialty is river fish, but while the ingredients are good, it comes smothered in spuds—huge portions of them. Packed with locals, who consider it good value, it has well-meaning but erratic service. The wine list is huge, but not everything may be available. Cash-only is the rule here—no credit cards.
