About ten years ago TV producer Andres Pruna interviewed me about Cuba [2] and Moon Cuba Handbook [3] for his syndicated TV show, LatinEyes [4]. See video [5] here.
It was the beginning of a professional relationship, and friendship, that continues to evolve.
In 2010, Andres and I traveled together for the first time, in Costa Rica [6], to initiate our first joint production. Initially intended as a LatinEyes segment, the show was long in coming, as LatinEyes wound down to be replaced by a new web-based show—Travel’NCulture with Chris Baker.
Our webpage is still in beta production. But the first segment of ‘Travel’NCulture Costa Rica with Chris Baker’ [7] can now be seen on Vimeo.
Here are a few of the highlights of segment one. Join me as I…
• Socialize and wheel-and-deal with tourism industry movers and shakers at Expotur [8], Costa Rica’s annual travel trade show
• Get the scoop on what it’s like to be an expat living in Costa Rica when I interview John McKuen, owner of 7th Street Books and Zona Tropical Publishing [9].
• Explore Los Cusingos Bird Sanctuary [10], one of the premier birding sites in Costa Rica
• Discover Costa Rica’s pre-Columbian past etched in rocks hidden deep in the jungle at Los Cusingos and at Rancho La Botija [11], near San Isidro de Pérez Zeledón [12]
• Check out one of the most sensational new hotels to open in Costa Rica in the past few years at Monte Azul [13], at the foothills of Cerro Chirripó [14], the nation’s highest mountain
• And finally get to see the Resplendent quetzal in the Savegre Valley at San Gerardo de Dota [15]
When viewing the 30-minute show, please note that it contains three intervals that will eventually be used for advertising when the show airs on TV.
Enjoy!... and please share it with your friends.
Meanwhile, stay tuned for the second segment of Travel’NCulture Costa Rica with Chris Baker and for upcoming shows on Colombia, Cuba and more
