During the summer, Custer State Park [1] hosts several artists at Sylvan Lake Lodge [2], the State Game Lodge [2], and the Coolidge Store in the Game Lodge area. The artists work on-site and answer questions from visitors.
Several artists return season after season, including Ron Holyfield and Kay Williams (www.lostinthewoodsstudio.com [3]), who have spent summers at the park since 1994.
John Lopez (www.lopez-ranch.net [4]), who sculpted many of the statues that are part of the City of Presidents in Rapid City [5], is also a frequent artist in residence in the park.
Take the opportunity and visit with some of the best artists of the Black Hills [6].
