Tres Marías Consider making a snack stop at Tres Marías, a roadside village high in the mountains; it’s famed for excellent cecina (flattened, cured beef), sopa de hongo (mushroom soup), quesadillas, and other Mexican treats. At Tres Marías is a turnoff east to a mountain lake park called Laguna de Zempoala, a popular forested picnic spot for weekenders from the city.
