| FONART
In terms of stores in the city, the best place to start is FONART’s Museo de Artes Populares (Av. Juárez 89, tel. 5521-0171, 10 a.m.7 p.m. Mon.Sat.), near the Alameda; it’s a combination handicraft museum/store. The merchandisesilver, onyx, pottery, baskets, textiles, and moreis of excellent quality; prices are nonnegotiable and fairly steep. FONART (Patriotismo 691, tel. 5563-4060, 9 a.m.8 p.m. Mon.Sat., 10 a.m.7 p.m. Sun.) has another slightly larger branch in the south part of the city.
