Arenal Rainforest Reserve

This newly created private reserve (tel. 506/479-9944, fax 506/479-8014, info@skytrek.com, www.arenalreserve.com, $40 admission including the tram and Sky Walk, $60 all-inclusive), near El Castillo, on the north-facing slopes of the Cordillera de Tilarán, was in construction at last visit and promises to be a winner. It offers phenomenal volcano views, to be enjoyed from an aerial tram that will eventually span 1,300 meters and an elevation of 236 meters, taking visitors up to miradors (look-out points) and trails. A Sky Trek zipline circuit and Sky Walk with suspension bridges are also to be built (see the Monteverde page for information on Sky Trek and Sky Walk). There’s a restaurant.
