MARAÚ PENINSULA LAKES AND BEACHES The lakes and beaches of the Maraú Peninsula are vast and varied. Starting at the top is the Barra Grande Beach, with beach kiosks for tourists hanging out for the afternoon. On the ocean side of the peninsula is the famous Tres Coqueiros Beach, with its picturesque white sand and palm trees. Here, you’ll find some pousadas and restaurants in case you want to stay a bit longer. Continuing down the coast is Taipu de Fora, a long expanse of sand and surf that has some amazing underwater reefs and tide pools for snorkeling. The Cassange Beach is on the coast of a narrow strip of land between the Cassange Lake and the ocean. You can walk between them, switching from salt water to fresh water for your swimming pleasure. Finally, the beaches closest to Maraú include Arandi and Algodões, which have long, extensive stretches of sand and a light surf that is perfect for swimming. Offshore are some reefs and pools for snorkeling. |
