Salto do Macuco Safari The most popular way to see the falls from the Brazilian side in on the Salto do Macuco Safari. The safari starts with a trip by jeep into the forest, where you’ll see some of the flora and fauna of the area. English-speaking guides provide an orientation. Next, you hike about 600 meters to the great Macuco Falls, a 20-meter cascade of the Iguaçu River. Hiking down to the riverbank, you then begin a boat excursion that takes you out to the base of the great falls in the direction of the Garganta, passing various cascades and rocky canyons along the way. Here, you are sure to get soaked, as the boats get quite close to the falls. The trip takes about 2 hours and groups leave every 15 minutes. In the winter, the safari operates from 8:30 a.m.5:30 p.m. TuesdaySunday and 15:30 p.m. on Monday. In the summer, hours are 8 a.m.6 p.m. TuesdaySunday and 16 p.m. on Monday.
