BANQUITAS HOUSE OF CULTURE

Banquitas House of Culture

Banquitas Plaza (tel. 501/322-0517, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Tues.–Fri., 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Sat.) is an exhibition hall that presents a broad exhibit about Orange Walk–area history, culture, industry, and the work of local artisans. They also host special traveling exhibits on Maya and African archaeology, and the modern culture of Central America. This is the place for a slow evening watching the light die on the New River and the landscaped grounds of the Banquitas Plaza. The plaza comes alive on Friday and Saturday nights when young Orange Walk couples stroll the river walk enjoying the cool evening together. The nearby amphitheater hosts monthly cultural activities.
