VOLCÁN LANÍN

VOLCÁN LANÍN

Looming above the landscape, 3,776 meters above sea level on the Chilean border, lop-sided Volcán Lanín is the literal and metaphorical center of its namesake national park. Covered by permanent snow, rising 1,500 meters above any other peak in the vicinity, its slightly irregular cone is an elevated beacon visible for hundreds of kilometers to the east and, where the rugged terrain permits, to the north and south.
