Grand Teton National Park
Trip Ideas
Grand Teton National Park remains one of the preeminent symbols of American wilderness. The Tetons rise abruptly from the valley floor, their bare triangular ridges looking like broken shards of glass from some cosmic accident of creation.
With six different summits topping 12,000 feet, plus some of the finest climbing and hiking in Wyoming, the Tetons are a paradise for lovers of the outdoors.
They have long been a favorite of photographers and sightseers, and once even appeared in an ad promoting Colorado tourism!
The Tetons change character with the seasons. In summer, the sagebrush flats are a garden of flowers set against the mountain backdrop. When autumn arrives, the cottonwoods and aspens become swaths of yellow and orange. Winter turns everything a glorious, sparkling white, set against the fluorescent blue sky.
Grand Teton National Park isn’t only about mountains, of course. Boat rides on Jackson Lake and raft trips down the Snake River, along with photo-perfect Jenny Lake, the barns of Mormon Row, and the winding road up Signal Mountain, are all accessible to anyone with a vehicle.
Two brand-new visitor centers—Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center and the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center—provide exceptional introductions to the park.
Bring your bike or hiking shoes to explore a multitude of trails and country roads, and keep your eyes open for bison and other wild creatures along the way.
